Yesterday was one of those days where I had to indulge in some virtual retail therapy to cheer myself up, so I picked up some landscaping sets from Studio Skye that I have been eyeing for a while and did some rebuilding of the winter corner of our sim. I am rather liking the result and decided to use it as the backdrop for a new video, where I look at another animated/customisable hair from Little Bones and some new makeups from the Plastik.
A dusting of snow on the ground and cold winds that chill the thick stone walls of the castle. Not so welcoming, perhaps, but beautiful in its starkness. And the gargoyle perching on his fountain does not mind, but keeps up his silent watch no matter what the season is. So far, at least, it is not cold enough that the water has frozen. Perhaps there’s a warm spring somewhere under the castle?
Fortunately, I don’t need my voice to write a blog post, because its been mostly gone for the last few days thanks to this virus. I’ve also had an incredibly sore throat and I am just so done with being sick right now. The weather has been glorious (if a bit too hot) and I’ve mostly been coughing in bed. But, enough about my misery and onto a mix of new items from among others Noble Creations, ieQED and Silentsparrow. I decided to setup this scene in our new castle by Fanatik—if I am going to decorate every room, I will need a lot of new furnishings!
There are thousands of hairstyles available in Second Life, yet it can still be hard to find more specialized styles for roleplay looks, so I am always thrilled when I come across one such as the style offered by Anachron at Genre’s medieval round. Finding a gown to go with such a hair is certainly much easier than the reverse; thanks to talented creators like Synjari Myriam of Senzafine I am rarely lacking a new dress for the occasion.
As I had guessed, the holidays were not conducive to blogging. But that’s alright, they were conducive to lots of good food and lots of reading. Now, however, I need to distract myself from the upcoming end (of the year, that is), so I have been doing a bit of landscaping on the sim again. With the help of the fatpack of Fanatik‘s Lofoten cliffs, red mountains and rocky islands have started cropping up on the sim. Our new desert area isn’t quite the way I’d like it yet (I need better sand textures and I need play around a bit more with the placement of the land forms set from Studio Skye), but its good enough to serve as the backdrop for these shots.
For We Love Role-Play, Jian (whose mainstore had its grand opening on June 1st) has released a fabulous banquet set called Old World Celebration which is sold for 30% off at the event. I was so thrilled when I received this set that I went out and hunted for a suitable prefab to display it in (and let me tell you, there’s a shortage of good mesh castles!). After much debating, I finally settled on the Medieval Village set from Fanatik, where the largest building features a grand hall.
