The Duel

I admit it, I have a thing for big swords. Well, any swords, really. It just looks so cool to be carrying one around and you always look great when posing with one. So when ContraptioN released the Mercenary’s Flambard for the Warehouse Sale, I went right over to grab it and insisted that Ran do the same. After all, while you can pose alone and look cool, a duel looks even cooler. Of course, we needed to dress right too. For Ran’s part that meant a trip to the Engine Room to pick up the amazing Bloodlust outfit from toksik whereas I received a review copy of the Aeon gacha from deviousMind, a very cool steam punk outfit that also is available at the Engine Room.

The Mercenary’s Flambard is not scripted for combat but it is a fantastic roleplay and photo prop which includes single-arm animations for holding the sword in conjunction with your regular AO as well as a set of full stances. You can see most of the stances in the photo series for this post.

The animation HUD also includes options for different size avatars and allows you to bring up a texture HUD that allows you to customize the look of your sword in quite a lot of detail.

deviousMind’s Aeon gacha features a corset together with either longer, ruffle-edged pants or a pair of short hotpants. There’s also matching boots, stockings, belts and other accessories. Two sets are rare, one with the sleeves and the collar and the other with the leather top and the wings. The set is only available for Maitreya Lara

The Bloodlust set from toksik is sold as separate parts (top, pants and boots), allowing you to mix and match colours. The top can be worn as long or short and the pants include a full pant and a bootfit.

For full flexibility in terms of colours, there’s also a fatpack, and it is very tempting as the set features some really excellent texturing and comes fitted for several male and female bodies.

I finished off my look by using several pieces from Sköll’s Cirilla set for Skin Fair, namely the eye makeup, the cheek scar and the lip scratch. Sköll does some excellent scars, I have to say.
