Outside the Chicago in 2008 bid party. He wasn’t there the previous day, but now he was. I couldn’t place him until the trip back home, when I realized that there were some T-shirts saying “To Serve Fan” about the con and that he was insisting that we eat. Then I laughed—a nice little joke. And, you know, I ate.
