For the daughter of a very minor rural lord, with a keep of wood rather than stone, being found a place in the royal household was considered quite the achievement. That her duties were those of a servant rather than a lady-in-waiting did not matter to her kin, as long as she served in the king’s own castle.
The last weekend of the Fantasy Faire is upon us. I haven’t yet managed to do the Quest so that is what I hope to do with my weekend, as well as sharing some final blog posts with you. The focus of this one is a grand furniture set from Laminak featuring a canopy bed, bedside table, chest and wardrobe. I love the look of the woodwork on these pieces, they are truly fit for royalty.
I also took the opportunity to show off the Terra Sigillata Wine Tray and Wine Jug from Del-ka Aedilis. These are of course Roman rather than medieval, but work well enough in place of other kinds of pottery. There are subtle designs on all the pieces, very much in the classic style of Terra Sigillata.
Verdandi is the “middle sister” of the Norns in Norse mythology, her domain is the present and her name essentially means “that which is happening/becoming”. It is also the name of the beautiful makeup set from Seydr for the Fantasy Faire that I am wearing for this post. There’s no Norse-inspired Faireland this year, but between that makeup and the Norse Warrior tack set from Cheval D’or, a Vikingesque post was inevitable. Fortunately, I have a beautiful snowy landscape all of my own. By no means as spectacular as a Faireland, but I think it served these photos well.
This time around, Enchantment offers us a look at the magical and whimsical world of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. To create a portal into this realm, I setup the Oberon’s Gift statue from Fantavatar & Moonstruck as a guardian by the Dolmen Experience Portal from Fanatik. For my outfit, I opted for Dreaming Thicket’s Fairy Ring dress and added some flowery antlers from Acios.
What is an “Experience Portal”, you might wonder? It is a new line of products from Fanatik that you can use to setup automatic teleports on your sim. You need to be able to enable an experience on your sim and then you load in one or more landmarks in a portal. If there is just one landmark, walking into the portal will trigger the teleport. If there are multiple, it will trigger a menu with options. The portals come in several different styles to suit different environments.
Of course I had to do a vlog for something during the Fantasy Faire this year as well! Not an exploration vlog this time, alas, I’ve had too much trouble with lag this year (starting to be time for a computer upgrade, if prices ever stop being insane). But what you are getting is a closer look at the really cool animesh whip from kosmii and Mythril, a sexy outfit from 1313 Mockingbird Lane and a stylish hair from KMH, all from the Fantasy Faire. Credits and slurls can be found beneath the video and I also added a couple of nice still shots to show off the outfit and the whip poses.
Deep in the Wandering Woods, you may come across her, the Butterfly Queen. From time to take, she takes human form to explore the woods, often delighting in playing a flute that is said to make flowers bloom.
The beautiful butterfly-inspired Asclepia gown from the Dreaming Thicket insisted on being showcased in a colourful and magical way, and the Wandering Woods sim (sponsored by Titans) was just right for it in terms of looks and hues. I added the Anemone crown and collar from On a Lark for a regal look, further helped along by the tall updo from KMH, and wore the Mystic tone of the Jemima skin from Lumae to match the colours of the gown. The lovely flute from Harshlands is the Ultra Rare from flute gacha, which means it plays all the songs contained in the other flutes.
