Libertines

A touch (or rather more) of decadence is never wrong and the Marquis set from Libertine by Alia Baroque (best known as the creator behind Fallen Gods) delivers just that. It is a sumptuous furniture ensemble packed with animations, from elegant and languid sits (including plenty of sits for male avatars) to steamy threesomes. There are also many props included, some just for decorative purposes and others to be used with some of the animations. For those who prefer to keep their animations mature rather than adult, a version with just those poses is also included for each piece of furniture.

We’re starting off the photos rather tame, but it gets a little steamer inside. And do click through to the larger versions; I wanted to show these in the full width so they had to be sized down quite a bit to fit on the blog.

The Marquis Couch is the largest piece of the set and contains the most animations. Depending on where on the couch you sit, you have access to slightly different poses. A total of four avatars can use the couch at any given time and for the adult animations there’s a wide variety of couple options as well as a smaller selection of threesomes. All the animations featuring multiple avatars are automatically synched and there are options to swap position as well.

In addition to the couch, the full set also includes a Master Chair, an Ottoman and a Lounger (not pictured; the lounger includes only male and female single sits). Here I am perched on the Ottoman and Ran is in the Master Chair. On the floor is a carpet which is only of many additional decorative elements. There’s also several other carpets, candle holders, plates of fruit, goblets of wine and some naughty vintage prints.

The various pieces in the set can also be purchased individually, but together they really do make for a lovely set for furnishings for the right sort of house. In this case, we’re in the Gatehouse Cottage from Alchemy Immortalis and its a great match for the Libertine pieces.

As mentioned, some of the animations include the use of props. In those cases, a prop is delivered to the appropriate avatar when the animation is started. So here I was automatically given grapes to wear for this grape feeding animation and a plate of fruit was automatically rezzed on the couch’s arm rest.

The variety of couple animations is very good, from sweet cuddles to all-out carnality. I particularly like the ones that include props, they make for great little scenes whether you’re using it for fun with your partner, roleplay or just photos.

Now we’re getting to the spicier animations. Some of those use props too, like this wrist-tie used in some of bondage-themed poses. Not all of the adult animations have a bondage element, but there’s a good selection that do. There are also single sits for females with a Gorean flavour.

I should also note that it is not just the couch that has the couple animations; many of them are also found in the chair and the ottoman, and some of them will place the avatars on the floor in front of the furniture in question. There’s definitely a lot of variety.

Overall, this is a well-priced set considering what you are getting. As furniture the set is an attractive addition to any home and the range of animations is excellent. I am not precisely an animation expert, but they look quite well-done and lifelike to me, with a good amount of detail to each cycle. The size of the furniture should work very well for the average SL avatar, but even if you’re shorter (as both of us are) and rounder (as I am), the pose adjustments will allow quite a lot of the animations to work well. The pieces can all be tested at Libertine and there you can also see all the props rezzed out. You can also read more about the set in this post.

Our hairs are both mesh hairs from Wasabi Pills, excellent for this sort of photography, and I am wearing the new Harper skin from Adam n Eve while Ran wears a Tableau Vivant skin.
