Shapes, photography and fashion reviews by Ran Garrigus and Freyja Nemeth. This blog has been replaced by the Otherworldly blog.
LivejournalAnother post up at Otherworldly, about mesh boots!
Long time, no posting. I’ve been busy redesigning and restructuring the site and it is almost there now. As part of these changes, Oldfashioned will be replaced with a new blog (though it will remain as an archive for now) called, tentatively, Otherworldly. Until I get feed links and such changed over, new posts will be linked from Oldfashioned.
I’ve spent the last week heavily immersed in A Dance with Dragons, despite actually reading the book some months ago. No wonder, then, that I was more than in the mood for this dragon-inspired dress from sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve, who happens to have become hooked on A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones.
I am also wearing a hair from the new Point B range, with all new textures and colours.
Sneak Peek:Nomine and Tekeli-li are two of my favourite stores and that always makes for a good combination. In this case, a forthcoming skin from Nomine and one of Tekeli-li’s releases from Hair Fair (still open for another week). And that’s all that’s needed, save for a nifty place to photo. These shots are in fact taken on the sim where Tekeli-li can be found, a smaller version of the grand build that used to sprawl across a full sim but still with plenty to discover.
Sneak Peek:Almost a week into it, Hair Fair is still going strong. I’ve got another pretty updo to show today, this one from Amacci. Its meant to be used with a hairbase and has no bangs, which of course is just how I like it.
I am also wearing one of the new skins from Curio that were released for the opening of the new Truth District shopping sim where you can find some great creators and a really nice build that should make for great photo opportunities.
Sneak Peek:Hair Fair is here! And with it, oodles and oodles of new hairs from some of Second Life’s best creators. With the heat we’re feeling this summer, it seemed only natural to hit the beach with my first hair reviews of the fair, as I focus on the two new male hair styles from Shag.
Sneak Peek:This years Hair Fair opened yesterday (well, yesterday for me when I am writing this) and the sims are already packed. Fortunately, demos for many of the hairs can be tried in advance through the Hair Fair DEMO group.
My first post shows a hair from Exile together with a brand-new dark skin from Adam n Eve, a great makeup for dark skins from elymode and a cool prop from LostAngel.
Sneak Peek:When I first started out in SL, I was very particular about eye colour and hair colour. So much so that I tried my hand at making my own. The eyes came out rather better than the hair, all in all, but gradually I have moved to using more and more bought eyes. The colours may not be 100% what I want, but a real sense of depth and life in an eye adds so much to photos.
Miriel’s eyes were my favourites for a long time, but for some reason I failed to listen when I heard people praise Lano Ling’s Poetic Colors brand. Boy, was I stupid. At this years Fashion for Life fair, I fell for his Black Swan eyes, and when I got the notice a few days ago about the gen2 classic eyes, I hurried over there. What I am showing today is just a small sample of a massive release—which comes complete with a huge sale! So read on (and make sure to click the images for larger versions!).
Sneak Peek:Launa Fauna has been making lovely skins and really yummy makeups for a good many years now. Her latest skin, Lea, has just been released and I am sharing a bit of a look at her today. I am also showing a new corset from Nomine and a new hair from Wasabi Pills.
Sneak Peek:I have been utterly scatter-brained of late. This is a post I prepared for some weeks ago…
But, better late than never. The fancy car is a photo prop from Glitterati, setup with a bunch of poses for guys and girls. I had to bring my own guy, though. My skin is PXL’s Gaia, which I will get around to featuring properly, my hair (and Ran’s) is from Amacci and the dress is from .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Sneak Peek:Sakura, the third new skin from Adam n Eve, is available both in the store and at the Skin & Shape Expo. I am showing off this lovely Asiatic skin with the help of some fabulous new props from LostAngel Industries, part of the Water set for their Seven Elements series.
Oh, and these shots are quite processed, so do demo the skin to see how it looks on you.
Sneak Peek:Another day, another skin from the Skin & Shape Expo. This time it is the lovely Lyndsey from Adam n Eve. I am also taking a closer look at a new jewelry set from Dark Mouse, who recently released a spring collection.
Sneak Peek:The Skin & Shape Expo opened today, with booths from talented skin and shape makers filling two sims. Easy to navigate and with a low-lag build, browsing through it was a breeze.
sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve is offering three new skins at the fair. I am starting with a skin particularly dear to me, the lovely Dany.
Sneak Peek:I haven’t found the time yet to do justice to Tuli’s latest release, the lovely Sara, with a proper skin review, but I am at least offering a look at her here. Lingerie is always a good reason to get mostly naked, especially the gorgeously detailed and oh so feminine sets from Insolence. I am also wearing jewelry by Dark Mouse, from this weeks Disco Deals.
Sneak Peek:Culture Shock 2011 is another event from Chic Limited and Keira Seerose, with hundreds of great brands showcased on a single sim, offering items for charity as well as for “regular” sale. The layout is very efficient though it has been very busy. As a result, I haven’t managed to look through everything yet, but I did manage to come away with a new dress from elymode. Jackal Ennui of lassitude & ennui was also kind enough to drop me some review copies, including of a lovely cameo pendant.
My skin is also a fairly new release, though not from Culture Shock; Adam n Eve’s Paige, here in the darkest tone.
