When in Rome

If roleplay with a Medieval or High Fantasy flavour is your thing in SL, there’s no shortage of clothing. But what if you’ve watched one too many episodes of Rome or Spartacus instead? Then you might want to stop by Fantasia, where you will find a few recent releases drawing their inspiration from Ancient Rome.

I’ve also been hair shopping again, at Truth and Calico Creations. Poor bunnies, I think I may have used some of the money set aside for their food.

The dresses in question are brand-new Aine and recentish Petra. The basic model is similar for both dresses, but the styling of the top makes quite a difference. They are both really elegant and as always very nicely textured, with lots of subtle, well-executed details to the patterns.

I must admit, however, that they were pretty hard to edit for my shape. With empire-waisted dresses, being a little shorter and wider than the SL norm is even more of an issue than with regular dresses. But…there’s not much to be done for that, I guess, though I may experiment with alpha layers to see if that might help. I really like this style of dress, so its worth a bit of extra effort.

The first hair is one of Truth’s new releases for the week, an elegant updo which also features a texture change bow. For this look, the bow didn’t quite fit in, so I choose the invisible option. The style feels quite different with and without the bow, so having both options is excellent.

The second hair is a brand new release from Calico Creations. Now this is what I call long hair. I love this cascade of curls and the hair also comes with colour-changing roses for the partial updo. This is a really lovely style and the new colour packs at Calico Creations offer so many great options for buying your hair. I picked “Calico’s Picks” which includes a wonderful mix of colours at a fabulous price.

1. One thing to always remember…

One thing to always remember with Fantasia is that if you hit a bad spot with modding for your shape, you can always IM Dream Fantasia. She is wonderful about helping out. Also, I have found with her empire waist dresses, clicking “edit linked prim” helps, where simply stretching the whole piece doesnt always work.
