Shapes, photography and fashion reviews by Ran Garrigus and Freyja Nemeth. This blog has been replaced by the Otherworldly blog.
LivejournalQuite recently, Ran reviewed the latest male skin from Nomine, Noam. The release saw some fairly significant changes in the style of the skin which we both felt made them work on more shapes, and naturally I started hoping that a new female release might be on its way too. I’ve liked the look of a lot of the previous skins too, but they’ve not quite worked for my shapes.
Yesterday, then, saw the release of the new female skin, Mosaic. I ran over to check them out and found a face with just the right blend of youth and attitude for me, so when Munchflower offered me a sample pack for reviewing, I was more than happy to say yes.
Skin: Mosaic China Aeolian Black, Peach Basic Green, Latte Glitter Gemmed, Fawn Lorelei Black, Bronze Sleepthief Red and Mocha Vamp Light by Nomine

Mosaic represents a new skin base for Nomine, with a bit more photosourcing mixed in with the handdrawing. However, I don’t think fans of Nomine’s older skins should be deterred by this because the skin still retains much of the character of those.
The skin is offered in six tones, from pale chin to dark mocha and each tone comes in a total of 48 make-ups divided across 8 sets. Each skin also comes with a nude base skin for those who use Viewer 2.0 and would like to play with add-on makeups.
The tones are, for the most part, quite successful. Mocha feels perhaps a tiny bit desaturated, but other than that I enjoyed all of them. The shading features nice breasts with large, dark nipples and I am also a fan of the bottom. I like the fact that there’s quite a bit of structure and colour-variation to the skin texture; too smooth doesn’t quite bring a skin to life for me. The amount of contrast also works to give depth and life to the skin.
There are some seams remaining, but as always its highly individual whether one feels that is an issue.
Skin: Mosaic China Aeolian Purple, Peach Basic Brown and Latte Glitter Red by Nomine

Accessories: Found Things Silver and Remember Me by Dark Mouse, Nightlife Diamond/Ruby Gold by alaMood-SL
The face, as I touched upon earlier, feels quite youthful to me and yet it is not overly sweet. There’s definitely an attitude there, and some tones and/or make-ups bring that out more or less strongly. The skin is quite shape friendly and it can look quite different from one shape to the next.
I am showing a selection of makeups across the skin tones, here on the three lighter tones. I also picked out some jewellery from recent review copies to go with the pretty faces; here we have two pieces from Dark Mouse and one of alaMood’s Accessory fair releases. Dark Mouse has been creating some beautiful, eye-catching and unique necklaces of late, and alaMood really excells at modern elegance.

Accessories: Soho Jade by alaMood-SL, Viva Black/Silver and Chain Gang Chokerface Gold by Ticky Tacky
The makeups range from subtle everyday styles to a good selection of more specialized makeups. There’s plenty for those who have goth & dark fantasy leanings, with lots of striking eyes and quite a few with streaks and swirls and other patterns around the eyes.
These three makeups are shown on the three darker tones and they are shown with another piece from alaMood and two pieces from Ticky Tacky, also from the Accessory Fair.
Even if the Accessory Fair going on and the RFL Clothing Fair starting on Saturday, set aside some lindens for a visit to Nomine and try out the Mosaic skin. After all, you need a sexy new skin to go with all those new jewels and clothes.
