LivejournalFor the longest time, the only more androgyne skin I really liked in SL was the one from eXceSs, which I’ve worn many, many times over my time as a fashion reviewer (and will continue to do so). However, at last, a new androgynous skin has arrived which gives eXceSs a run for its money: Nomine’s Andro.

It’s fascinating to look at the vendor image for Andro, because Munchflower Zaius clearly played up the androgyny with the shape she used, and it certainly creates a bit of cognitive dissonance. After a quick demo, I was off like a shot to buy this one as an addition to eXceSs’s Androgyne Man skin… but now I think it may be something of a replacement, coming out rather more often. For one thing, the bronze tone is really similar to eXceSs’s cappuccino, which is a plus as it happens to be exactly the tone I need for that particular avatar. For another, while the body definition is relatively soft, there’s enough detailing that you get a sense of healthy, lightly toned body—also just what I needed.
There’s just ... well, a lot to praise. With her usual style and skill, Munchflower’s turned out a real beauty. In some shapes, the skin can look awfully young, and in all of them there’s going to be something androgynous, a bit feminine, about how it looks. The eyebrows certainly move towards the feminine end of the scale—thin and sculpted, quite unlike the very masculine Noam—and the lips are certainly luscious. You’ll definitely be a beautiful youth, more or less androgynous depending on how you tweak it, with this skin.
A number of skin tones are available, and I must say, I think the saturation levels for the highlights is improved from Noam (which I think suffers a little bit in the darker tones). As to makeups, besides the clean option shown here, there’s a number that borrow from the female makeup range (such as glitter) and the male makeup range on Noam (blackout). The clean, unlined version suits me just fine, but I admit, I’m starting to wonder about getting a hold of something from a darker skin tone, too… Nomine’s aiming to bankrupt me!
Fortunately for me, these beautiful Andro skins are just L$500 a makeup, which is very reasonable indeed, even in the case of a skin which comes with no options (such as head/body hair).
