Shapes, photography and fashion reviews by Ran Garrigus and Freyja Nemeth. This blog has been replaced by the Otherworldly blog.
LivejournalThe following review covers a great set of entries into historical fashion in SL, and’s certainly worth a look for all the roleplayers and fantasy fans out there.

Oh, how I love historical wear. These awesome outfits, part of a Renaissance collection from Squinternet Larnia of Donna Flora and Patrizia Blessed of Ardigraf Design, caught my eye as soon as I saw them advertised. Romeo and Orazio are the two male outfits, each available in two colors, and they’re matched by complimentary dresses for women which Freyja will soon be reviewing.
Romeo’s up first, in blue and silver (it’s more of a purple, though) and green and gold. Puffed sleeves? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen them done for men in SL with such level of detail and effort. The textured patterns on the front are sharp and fit beautifully. And the jewelry they have? It’s a separate piece that comes included in the outfit—which is a steal at a mere L$480—and I love it to pieces because it’s just so historical in style. Gorgeous. As you can probably tell, I’m over the moon with the outfit. Now, the hat ... isn’t as successful. And the shoes, while sculpted, are pretty basic. Still, it’s terrific that for such a small price you have a full outfit. And just a tip—if you want to have that Tudors look, the cavalier boots from Siyu Suen of Illusions are a perfect match with the hand-painted hose.
The other outfit, Orazio, is similar in the torso, but as you can see the sculpting is quite different at the sleeves, and it features a ruff instead of a high collar. The hat, too, is quite different ... and it’s rather more successful, IMO, with the jaunty feather. I quite like the golden trim at the bottom of the red outfit. It is, I suppose, more a burgundy in hue, but it’s definitely a keeper.
Donna Flora’s been making waves with some terrific outfits and jewelry of late, and their teaming up with Ardigraf Designs sure seems to have produced some winners this time around. I hope that good sales will lead to more clothing in this vein!
