A New Luster

Late last night (for me, anyway) a pack of review copies from Luster arrived. Luster is the new brand from Lo Jacobs, formerly of the Church of Luxe. Not, admittedly, a brand I was very familiar with, since “regular” clothing make up a pretty small part of my SL wardrobe. However, I was intrigued by the description of Luster as having a “storybook asthetic”, and when I tried a few of the pieces sent out, I found myself quite charmed.

Style Notes & Slurls

Skin: Abbie Cole Light Vixen by The Abyss
Hair: Glow 10 Copper by 69
Clothes: Tulip White, Valentina Noir and Giada Navy by Luster
Accessories: Flat Ankleboots by Coco
Poses: LAP

From left to right we have the Tulip dress (with the free Red Riding Hood cape), the Valentina dress and the Giada trenchcoat. The outfits make heavy use of sculpted elements, making for really unique shapes, though it does mean fitting them can be an issue. The Tulip dress and the Giada trenchcoat worked quite well, but the Valentina dress was quite tricky even when I used one of my slimmer shapes. So it is something to consider if your avatar doesn’t quite fit the SL standard size-wise.

That said, I think both the sculpties and the textures are very well made, and I am definitely going to be keeping an eye on Luster to see what else Lo Jacobs puts out. There’s a feel to these clothes that I find quite attractive. The Valentina dress, in particular, features some really nice texturing (more apparent in the lighter colours) and a very nice overall style.

I am still in the lovely Abbie Cole skin from the Abyss, with hair from 69 and boots from Coco, with the white ones being a Winter’s Choice stamp rally prize.
