Warm Tradition

There’s nothing like a well-executed, traditional men’s coat to keep a fellow warm in the winter. SF Designs helps us all out by providing just such an article, perfect for those chill, foggy mornings (especially if there are docks nearby).

This new pea coat from SF Designs reminds me that I should probably given in to Freyja’s demands that I get one for myself in First Life, because it looks really, really good. At least on my avatar, who is (I admit) rather handsomer than I. ;) That said, Swaffette Firefly of SF Designs has another winner here. This is an excellent coat, including different sized flexi coat tail and collar attachments to help fit a range of avatars, and on top of that you have the pea coat with and without the scarf. Obviously, I chose with, in part because just this past weekend I went out Christmas shopping with a rarely-worn scarf on… Seemed appropriate. I’m rather fond of the epaulette attachments on the shoulder, a little detail that didn’t escape Ms. Firefly’s practiced design skills.

Matched to it is the Keaton hair from Calico Ingmann, a very romantic sort of hairstyle. A bit long and heavy for some guys in SL, no doubt, but it suits me just fine. As always, there’s a wide range of color options from Calico, almost too many to enumerate—dozens of hair colors, I’m sure, each with a few variants. Sometimes I do wish Calico would put out some male hair that’s a bit closer-fitted, for variety, but there’s all kinds of hairmakers out there. And then the rest? A bit of Adam n Eve, most of which has been seen before. The Dylan skin is matched to the Dylan 2 shape, sold at Adam n Eve but made by… ta-da! Me. Released today, it’s today’s Monday Blues L$50 special. I’m rather fond of how it came out, striving as I do for realistic proportions. Some shapes with that particular stricture come out better than others, and Dylan 2 has been one of my more successful attempts.

Swaffette’s one of those designers who has been around a good while, but never rests on her laurels. The improvements I’ve seen in the areas of texturing and prim work over the years I’ve been a fan of the store is clear, and it’s a testament to her talent and determination. SF Design has areas filled to the rafters with men’s formal and casual clothes (and women’s, too), and it’s certainly a place to check out to fill out a classy wardrobe.
