LivejournalAfter Freyja had a chance to try a beautiful, Russian ethnic costume from RFyre, I was very pleased to see that Raven Pennyfeather remembered the gentlemen out there (she always does!) with their own piece of Russian costumery.
As a compliment to the lovely Oksana and Katerina costumes RFyre has recently released for women, Dimitri’s a terrific option for men. A number of sculpted pieces give the costume some heft and sense of the bulk of the sort of traditional Russian cossack garb that the costume is referencing. The hat? The hat’s a terrific touch. I never quite understand how they get that fur effect going, but it comes out very well I think. Beautiful texture on the belt’s buckle, as well, with an imperial Russian eagle.
The real focus of this outfit, however, is the massive cloak. with the fur on the shoulders. It’s an amazing piece of work, I think, and really just encompasses the avatar without being too hugely bulky. Just the sort of thing one wants to face the Siberian winter. This would really suit fantasy roleplayers who are focused on colder regions (Viking RP, maybe?)
At the usual L$800 price point for a number of the more complex costumes at RFyre, Dimitri’s a terrific deal if you’re looking for something for that historical or fantasy, winter-appropriate wear. It’s always a pleasure to see such under-represented historical categories getting served by a talented designer!
