Moonstruck at the Fantasy Faire

Summer time appears to be faire time in SL. Next week, there’s the eagerly awaited Hair Fair, and this week there’s the Fantasy Faire. It stretches across nine sims and features fantasy, sf, goth, neko and related fashions, skins and accessories. The faire is associated with RFL, and each exhibitor has at least two RFL vendors, many offering limited edition products. There are well-known creators such as Illusions, Evie’s Closet, Tekeli-li and Rfyre present, but also many, many less known stores. That means an opportunity to discover some new and interesting creators. Such as Luna Barak and her Moonstruck brand.

Style Notes & Slurls

Skin: Anaise Zeringue by Skin Within
Hair: Darci Black by Adam n Eve
Clothes: Angelica by Moonstruck
Accessories: Ami Amet Deli Pencet Vine Earrings by Alchemy Immortalis

Moonstruck offers clothing with a historical flair for both men and women, and many of her designs are quite unlike anything else I’ve seen in SL. I had quite a hard time picking out just one gown to take home, but with Hair Fair just around the corner I do need to watch my spending just a little bit.

The gown I ended up selecting was the lovely Angelica gown in red with gold accents. The same style of gown is also available in three other colour combinations, but I believe the patterns are slightly different on each gown and they are each named differently. Angelica looks to be a renaissance inspired gown, not the least considering the very fancy headdress with the long veils. The gown includes a long and a short sleeved jacket, two types of prim sleeves and an opaque as well as a transparent undershirt. There is also a pair of matching shoes; high-heeled rather than period appropriate, but the shape of the shoe is still quite suitable for this type of gown.

I am wearing earrings from Alchemy Immortalis, my hair is once again the lovely Darci updo from Adam n Eve, which will be released at the Hair Fair, and my skin is Anaise from Skin Within. There is, btw, a limited edition RFL makeup available for Anaise, and it costs only L$ 1000 instead of the usual L$ 1200.

Overall, I am quite liking what’s on offer from Moonstruck. The clothing is neatly put together and the patterns and colours are nice, though in some cases more shading and less pattern might have been a better choice, as too much patterning can get a little busy and a little flat. But these are relatively minor points, and both Ran and I will be keeping an eye on the store as he found the menswear quite interesting too. The designs definitely fill a niche in SL.
