So, the release of these caused a bit of a ... ah, a stir, shall we say, in Plurkdom. I admit to having chuckled about it with others, because I’ve never really seen a need for a substantial “package” in SL. I know Casa del Shai had sculpted packages on their boxers ages ago, and yeah, never bought those. So, naturally, I joked that I was going to get one of these. And naturally, someone demanded pictures. So, what the heck? I went out and bought, as one does during such occasions.

There’s quite a wide range of underpants now at LeLutka Mode, all of them apparently featuring sculpted additions, so to speak. Naturally, my eyes gravitated to the underwear that seemed to feature the biggest package. :P It was a tough choice between the thong and the bikini slip, but prudence won out and I went with the latter. Trying them on, I was unimpressed until I realized that most of the sculpt had rezzed inside my pelvis. With a bit of edit magic… well, lets just say there was _no_ false advertising in the LeLutka ad image!

All kidding aside, the sculpting and texturing is quite cleverly done. Instead of it being just a set of underwear with a package sitting on top, not matching at all, it’s the underwear (which you can use alone) plus a sort of “plate” that stretches between the two bands and sits just on top of of your avatar. It’s not perfectly seamless (you can see where the upper part blends into the underwear texture in the middle picture), but it’s certainly acceptable for prim clothing. I don’t expect I’ll ever wear this again, unless I take up SL exotic dancing, but I can’t regret the purchase because it does interest me when clever uses are made of sculpts by skilled designers. Hats off (but underwear firmly on!) to Thora Charron, who seems to be the mastermind behind these.

For something just a wee bit less showy, I thought I’d feature two models of boycut shorts for men. On the left you’ll find me in the Rantastic shorts (named after me, as I suggested something of the sort to sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve when she was drafting the first of her new skins). These are a fantastic deal, I have to say. 6 pairs of underpants, two in your standard black and white and the remaining in four in an array of eye-popping colors like the Purple Peril shown here, all for just L$100. I’m wearing the newly-released Justin skin, one of those rare birds of SL: a red-haired skin for men.

And next to him is the soon-to-be-released Dominic, a slightly less rare (but still not all that common) blonde skin. He’s partially covered up thanks to Boycut, a store that does an admirable job focusing on the underwear niche. There’s a lot of colorful patterns and designs available from them, and occasionally a bit of cheekiness (or so one might say). In this case, these are the Cheeky boycut shorts, pulled down rather ... well, cheekily. Just after I bought these, Boycut released an even cheekier set of underpants, but I think I’m happy with these (for now). A nice touch is that all Boycut underwear is sold with two layers, pants and underpants, presumably to help accommodate those who use the underwear layer for tattoos or pubic hair.
