Shapes, photography and fashion reviews by Ran Garrigus and Freyja Nemeth. This blog has been replaced by the Otherworldly blog.
LivejournalSometimes, SL does what it can to drive you crazy. Such as constantly reloading textures and being laggy when you’re trying to shoot some very delicate jewellery, which is hard enough under good conditions. Both Ran and I were ready to give up for the evening more than once while getting these pictures done, so do make sure you click through to the larger versions to get a better look at the lovely new jewellery from Flirt.

I spotted a plurk from Skinkie Winkler of Flirt about review copies being sent out for her latest creations, Bloom and Tiny Bloom. I took a look at the images she linked and knew I would love a closer look at these sets. And I do mean closer, because Bloom in particular is a very delicate set that really needs to be seen up close and personal.
First up we have Bloom and Tiny Bloom in Onyx. However, Onyx just means that the center of the petals is black. The crystals making up the rest of the flowers and the metal it is set in is scripted to change colour, allowing for 140 different combinations. That is a lot of possibilities in a single set, and here you can see Amethyst set in Bronze and Emerald set in Silver. The pieces are also scripted to allow for resizing.

My other favourite from the base colours available is the Jasper, seen here in both Bloom and Tiny Bloom once more, and coloured up to show Ruby set in Yellow Gold and Sapphire set in Titanium. In this case I am wearing the stud earrings for the Bloom set whereas the Onyx picture of Bloom showed the longer earrings.
On the whole, I find that the retexturing and resizing scripts work pretty well for jewellery, but I must admit that I would love the option to set the colour of all the pieces currently worn in one go instead of having to setup each piece individually. It can also get a bit laggy at times, at least for my not-so-great computer.
Still, I am definitely willing to trade a bit of performance for the wide variety of options the retexturing script affords you. There are some very nice metal and crystal textures to choose from, and the customization means the sets can be matched to all sorts of outfits. The style of the jewellery is also quite versatile and suited to everything from casual wear to formal or fantastical outfits.
The lovely corsets used are all from PixelDoll’s Love Lace brand, from their set of 14 corsets released for Valentine’s this year, and the skins are all from Tuli. The last one, Faith, is an in-progress skin sent out as a group gift a few days ago. I am really thrilled with the skin texture on this skin, and it is a lovely face, though I must admit that the lips properly speaking require a lip shape that is rather fuller than I prefer.
