Shapes, photography and fashion reviews by Ran Garrigus and Freyja Nemeth. This blog has been replaced by the Otherworldly blog.
LivejournalAlmost two posts in one day (its past midnight here now, though), what I am thinking? Well, I figured that after an impulsive purchase there had to come an impulsive blog, too. Its all Rezzable’s fault. Their latest sim is all about Egypt, and I managed to get myself an invitation to today’s (well, okay, yesterday’s) sneak peek for bloggers of the fashion show featuring Egyptian-inspired designs. And then ... well, I just felt I couldn’t leave the sim without at least one of the many lovely designs following me home.
Now, if only some of my regular skin suppliers would put out some skins with Egyptian-inspired makeups ... ;)

The piece that I picked out is Casa del Shai’s Eternal Nefertari gown in blue (it is also available in rust and in white). It wasn’t easy choosing between this one and the piece by Nicky Ree (which also features some lovely drapery), but in the end I felt that this would be a more generally wearable gown.
I am really liking the drapery of the top (I have considered other Shai pieces before, but generally found the drapery a little too heavy), and the sheerness of it is very sexy. Its just too bad it can’t be worn without the coloured band, for those of us who feel extra naughty at times. ;) Overall, the piece feels light and flowing, and while the gold may not convey linen as clearly as the other two colours, it still has the feel of a very thin, airy fabric.
There was some lovely jewellery shown at the fashion show as well, but my linden balance has been suffering a few setbacks of late, so I decided to go with something already in my inventory, the Kemet set from Tekeli-li. Since it is colour-change, it could easily be set to match the outfit.

The sexy back of the gown deserves a closer look as well, and I must say I quite like the construction of the dress, where the blue band connects to the back piece which then also connects to the sash about her waist and the drape in front. Given this, I can see why there’s only one way of wearing this dress, though some more layering options and variations might have been nice. It is becoming fairly common, after all.
On the whole, however, it is a stunning gown, which does a great job of incorporating the feel of an Ancient Egyptian outfit in a modern, wearable design.
The Shai gown is just one of many lovely items—gowns, jewellery, skins, furniture and more—created specifically for this Rezzable event. If you can stand a lot of lag I would suggest trying to be there for the first open show on Friday. If not, stopping by a little later just to do some shopping is always an option, but the show was really well put together.
