Shapes, photography and fashion reviews by Ran Garrigus and Freyja Nemeth. This blog has been replaced by the Otherworldly blog.
LivejournalI’ve spent the last week heavily immersed in A Dance with Dragons, despite actually reading the book some months ago. No wonder, then, that I was more than in the mood for this dragon-inspired dress from sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve, who happens to have become hooked on A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones.
I am also wearing a hair from the new Point B range, with all new textures and colours.
Nomine and Tekeli-li are two of my favourite stores and that always makes for a good combination. In this case, a forthcoming skin from Nomine and one of Tekeli-li’s releases from Hair Fair (still open for another week). And that’s all that’s needed, save for a nifty place to photo. These shots are in fact taken on the sim where Tekeli-li can be found, a smaller version of the grand build that used to sprawl across a full sim but still with plenty to discover.
Almost a week into it, Hair Fair is still going strong. I’ve got another pretty updo to show today, this one from Amacci. Its meant to be used with a hairbase and has no bangs, which of course is just how I like it.
I am also wearing one of the new skins from Curio that were released for the opening of the new Truth District shopping sim where you can find some great creators and a really nice build that should make for great photo opportunities.
Hair Fair is here! And with it, oodles and oodles of new hairs from some of Second Life’s best creators. With the heat we’re feeling this summer, it seemed only natural to hit the beach with my first hair reviews of the fair, as I focus on the two new male hair styles from Shag.
This years Hair Fair opened yesterday (well, yesterday for me when I am writing this) and the sims are already packed. Fortunately, demos for many of the hairs can be tried in advance through the Hair Fair DEMO group.
My first post shows a hair from Exile together with a brand-new dark skin from Adam n Eve, a great makeup for dark skins from elymode and a cool prop from LostAngel.
Launa Fauna has been making lovely skins and really yummy makeups for a good many years now. Her latest skin, Lea, has just been released and I am sharing a bit of a look at her today. I am also showing a new corset from Nomine and a new hair from Wasabi Pills.
One thing that struck me when I browsed through the Fashion for Life sims was the many gowns on display. Not that fancy frocks are a new thing in SL, but their popularity has seemed a little lessened of late. I am always happy to see more gowns, however; I may not go dancing in SL, but I don’t exactly spend a lot of time dressed “normally” anyway.
The two gowns that I am showing here are from swaffette Firefly of SF Design and sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve.
Today at 3 PM SLT, the Skin Fair by Vanity Universe opens. One of the brand new, fair exclusive releases awaiting you is the latest skin from Tuli, Zoe. I’ll be giving a look at her lovely body as well as two closeups of her face which also show a couple of the creative tattoo layer makeups from Adam n Eve. The elegant updo I am wearing is from Amacci and it is yet another hair from Carina Larsen that is designed to be worn with a hairbase, I can’ t get enough of these.
The best way to get me back to regular blogging? Skins, of course. Like the soon-to-be-released Linda Generation 3 from PXL. Four tones of this lovely skin are coming out this Sunday and two more are being released at the Vanity Universe Skin Fair starting on the 20th of February.
Also featured in this post is brand-new hair from Exile, LoveLace lingerie and a gorgeous new ring from Alchemy Immortalis.
With the New Year, there’s new skins, both for boys and girls. For the boys there is Matt from Adam n Eve which Ran is wearing in this post. For the girls…well, as usual, we’re spoilt for choice. With the reopening of her store, Tuli has released no less than five new skins. I hope to show them all if time permits, but I am starting today with my favourite, dark and lovely Tanya.
Both Ran and I are also showing hair from Amacci where there is a huge sale going on and new unisex necklaces from LOGO. And you can catch at least a glimpse of a pair of sexy new shoes from Adam n Eve on my feet.
Jackal Ennui of Lassitude & Ennui has once again been hard at work to put out some great boots with a historical flair. One pair, Thecla, is already available in a full set of colours whereas the second pair, Assassin, so far is only available in grey and through the Happy Holidays hunt (which also features some other really awesome gifts).
I’ve also got some new releases on my head courtesy of lamb and Analog Dog.
What does a new skin from Nomine, some vintage stockings from League and some cool toys from chanimatios equal? Some naughty fun, of course.
There are more skins on the way from Tuli, which is always great news for us skin addicts. This is just a little preview of one of the forthcoming faces called Claire which was briefly available during a special sale a week or so ago. But hopefully the regular release isn’t too far off!
For a variety of reasons, blogging has fallen by the wayside in the last weeks. I am hoping it will change, but at the same time I am feeling dissatisfied with how I do it and a bit uninspired by a lot of new releases of late. I am looking for a new approach that fits what I enjoy better, so we’ll see what might come of it.
But for now, here’s a bit of catching up on a lingerie release from Insolence, jewelry from Bliensen + MaiTai and some brand new hair attachments from Amacci.
The builds that made the theme of this years Jewelry Fair come alive were created by Delora Starbrook of Haven Designs. So, it seemed like a good idea to match this stunning LOGO jewelry with one of my favourites from Delora’s store, the Rhapsody gown. It also stands as a good example of the variety at Haven Designs; its far from just silks. I am also wearing another gorgeous new hair from Analog Dog.
