Shapes, photography and fashion reviews by Ran Garrigus and Freyja Nemeth. This blog has been replaced by the Otherworldly blog.
LivejournalI’ve spent the last week heavily immersed in A Dance with Dragons, despite actually reading the book some months ago. No wonder, then, that I was more than in the mood for this dragon-inspired dress from sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve, who happens to have become hooked on A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones.
I am also wearing a hair from the new Point B range, with all new textures and colours.
Launa Fauna has been making lovely skins and really yummy makeups for a good many years now. Her latest skin, Lea, has just been released and I am sharing a bit of a look at her today. I am also showing a new corset from Nomine and a new hair from Wasabi Pills.
I have been utterly scatter-brained of late. This is a post I prepared for some weeks ago…
But, better late than never. The fancy car is a photo prop from Glitterati, setup with a bunch of poses for guys and girls. I had to bring my own guy, though. My skin is PXL’s Gaia, which I will get around to featuring properly, my hair (and Ran’s) is from Amacci and the dress is from .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
I haven’t found the time yet to do justice to Tuli’s latest release, the lovely Sara, with a proper skin review, but I am at least offering a look at her here. Lingerie is always a good reason to get mostly naked, especially the gorgeously detailed and oh so feminine sets from Insolence. I am also wearing jewelry by Dark Mouse, from this weeks Disco Deals.
Culture Shock 2011 is another event from Chic Limited and Keira Seerose, with hundreds of great brands showcased on a single sim, offering items for charity as well as for “regular” sale. The layout is very efficient though it has been very busy. As a result, I haven’t managed to look through everything yet, but I did manage to come away with a new dress from elymode. Jackal Ennui of lassitude & ennui was also kind enough to drop me some review copies, including of a lovely cameo pendant.
My skin is also a fairly new release, though not from Culture Shock; Adam n Eve’s Paige, here in the darkest tone.
These last few weeks I have spent mostly in neither RL or Second Life but rather in Westeros. As the maintainers of the largest A Song of Ice and Fire fansite, Ran and I have been swallowed up by all the news reporting for HBO’s new Game of Thrones show which is based on the books.
Today’s look is definitely echoing Westeros too in a nod to House Targaryen; lilac eyes, silver-gold hair and black-and-red clothing in the form of the Blood version of Silentsparrow’s latest release, the Corbie Suite. I am also wearing the lovely new Paige skin from Adam n Eve.
The Fantasy Faire is closing today. Maybe I will manage to squeeze in something more after this post, but if not this—featuring a mermaid outfit from Mer-Elf Creations and a skin from Plastik—will be the last Fantasy Faire post while the faire is still running.
That said, for various reasons fantasy is foremost on my mind right now, so expect to see more over the coming weeks when I get some spare time.
Some more goodnes from Raven Pennyfeather of RFyre, as I check out Black Guard II, available now at Fantasy Faire 2011!
Fantasy Faire 2011 is due to close Sunday, but it’s here now, and if you haven’t visited… well, what are you waiting for? Sims jam-packed with amazing costumes, buildings, props, avatars, and more, all tinged with fantasy. As always, expertly organized by Nevar Lobo and team, the Faire is the place to go to see what’s happening with fantasy-themed content creation in Second Life. And to highlight that, an old standby—and one of my favorite stores—worth looking at: RFyre.
Today’s look at the Fantasy Faire has more than a touch of Egypt and the Middle-East in it, with a gown and a jewelry set from Illusions as well as a pair of embroidered slippers from lassitude & ennui.
Edited to add: There is a very cool pattern on the belt that did not show up due to a graphics setting when we took the photos.
The week is flying by fast (at least here) and the end of the Fantasy Faire is looming closer. If you haven’t already been there, what are you waiting for? There’s outfits like this lovely set from Evie’s Closet and cool fantasy skins such as this one from Adam n Eve.
The Fantasy Faire is now open and I am continuing my coverage of some of the many goodies available with two great gowns from Naergilien Wunderlich. I am also using a new skin from Adam n Eve (also available at the Fantasy Faire) and a new set of gown poses from LAP that I picked up at the Pose Fair.
Fashion for Life is drawing to a close, so it’s your last chance to contribute to the cause by buying one of the many charity items produced by the fine creators who are present on the beautiful sims that make up the event. As is usual, my penchant for suits brought me to the attention of swaffette Firefly, the person I can genuinely say was probably the creator of the oldest set of bought clothes I bought in SL!
Fashion for Life is soon coming to a close (March 22nd), but for those who love fairs there are many more coming up during spring. One of these is Pose Fair (starting April 1st, I believe) and this post mixes another RFL item from FFL with some Pose Fair pre-releases that were sent out to the Glitterati VIP group.
Fashion for Life is one of the biggest fashion fairs to hit the grid, and it’s a fine time to browse what’s out there, and maybe to make some purchases to enhance your virtual wardrobe and give something to charity while you’re doing it. As usual with general fashion fairs, a lot of the designs are for women… but not all of them, and I thought I’d highlight two of the items I’ve picked up in the last week.
