New Additions

This isn’t precisely the first time in a long while that we have changed a bunch of things on the site, but I keep forgetting to actually post an update. So, what have we done this time?

Well, the ‘Horses’ section is now ‘Critters’, since Horsetales now has the company of Boxertales and Dossiers. The first is for chronicling life with Ringo, our little hellion of a boxer, and the second is for profile pages for dogs, past and present, and horses. So far, Ringo has received a page of his own, complete with his very own Guestbook.

Upcoming changes include some fiddling with the layout to tie, for example, the book-related subsections more closely together. As always, the site is a work in progress.

Software Upgrade

Version 1.4 of ExpressionEngine, the excellent content management system we use to handle all the dynamic data on the site, was released today. As some of you may have noticed, we experienced some small problems while upgrading our site, but that has all been fixed now, and we hope to soon be able to take advantage of some of the new features offered in 1.4 to enhance the site further.

By the way, pMachine now offers a free version of ExpressionEngine, called ExpressionEngine Core, and we can really recommend this to anyone looking for a great blogging system. Its more powerful and more flexible than anything else we’ve tried.

Site Introduction

Although the site has been more or less operational for some months now, we have yet to ‘officially’ open it. Now, however, we feel that the time has come for that, as a majority of the sections have been completed, and we’d like to wish everyone welcome to Hippoi Athanatoi. If you are curious about what we are or plan to be offering here, we have put together a brief overview of the site’s various sections.
