Prepare to Be Enchanted

Events are still going strong in Second Life and personally I think that there is a strong appeal to “themed” shopping. I certainly enjoy it quite a bit myself, especially when the theme is something that appeals to me. The latest event to hit just the right mark for me is Enchantment. This event is inspired by fairy tales and it will run on a three-month cycle, which I think is a good idea now that there are so many monthly events. Additionally, all items sold at the event will be exclusives, available only at the event and then never again once that round has closed.

The first round will start on November 1st and it draws its inspiration from Snow White. I have had the opportunity to attend the blogger preview and I think you will find that there are quite a few things on offer that you won’t want to miss out on.

The Snow White gown from junbug caught my eye immediately with the contrast between the sheen of the bodice and the flowing quality of the skirt. It is down to excellent texturing that the bodice looks like it is from a stiffer material and the skirt—with a cleverly applied semi-sheer overlay, all in rigged mesh—appears light and airy.

One of my quibbles with standard sizes tends to be the exaggerated area around the hips and bottom, but I think this gown model uses that beautifully, capturing the fullness of the skirt in contrast to the bodice. The capped sleeves are a bit tricky in some poses, but I think that is largely unavoidable when you rig such a short sleeve.

The charming wishing well by Aisling is also from the Enchantment event. It comes with a small selection of single poses and two couple poses and some add-ons such as birds and falling petals which I did not end up using for this particular shot. While it definitely has a fairy tale “feel”, the well would make a lovely addition on any rustic sim as well.

My hair is one of LeLutka’s brand new releases, called Serena. It comes with two different styles of bangs and a separate tiara as well, though I didn’t add that one in for this photo. Instead, I accessorized with the Moonchild jewellery set from Bliensen+MaiTai. My skin is once again Pixie from the Skin Shop with an added red lipstick, for that proper Snow White look.
