Skin Fair 2017

At 12.01 am SL time on the 10th of March, the Skin Fair will open its doors to the public. At the fair, produced by Pale Girl Productions, you will find two sims full of skins, makeups, tattoos, shapes and mesh body parts, with each booth containing at least some exclusive items. Have you yet to find the perfect skin for your mesh head? Or perhaps even the perfect mesh head? Then you will want to fill your inventory with demos and do some thorough testing. You can already start preparing by joining the Pale Girl Productions Info Group to which the designers are sending their demos.

And if you want at look at a few of the designers and an overview of the fair itself, I’ve done a little video for you. In addition to skins and heads, it includes a look at the just released bento update for the Slink female hands. After the video, I have also included close ups of four of the skins that I showcase as well as information about all the bits and pieces worn.

The Praying Lady

It is feeling a little odd to be setting up photos with a spring/summer feel when we’ve suddenly had a mass of snow dumped on us in real life, just as it was starting to feel like the beginning of spring. But that’s March for you. Fortunately, the weather is a bit more predictable in Second Life, which is to say it is exactly what I need at any given moment. In this case, I wanted a beautiful forest to show off this lovely statue from Noble Creations together with a few other thing from the new round of We Love Role-Play.

Playtime

Today the fantasy fashion in SL is dominated by elaborate outfits that are more jewellery than clothing, often with very little fabric to them. If you go back some years, before mesh, flexi silks made up a huge part of the available fantasy wear and some of my favourite pieces were from Solange. Today’s outfit is a brand new mesh release from her which should be out in the store tomorrow (Friday). It is a beautifully rigged silk camisk with a matching thong for when you don’t quite feel like baring it all. Also featured in this post is a new hair from Wasabi Pills and a new shirt from Gabriel.

Defender

I had picked up two sets of sword poses from Genre’s Viking round when it opened, but it wasn’t until the latest release from Noble Creations—Warrior Girl—landed in my inventory that I came up with how to use them. The result includes a good dose of fantasy clichés, from the horned helmet to the scant clothing. But no chainmail bikini, not this time.

Sassy Simone

This look started with the Miwa hair from Wasabi Pills, which is available at the current round of Uber in two variant styles. I generally don’t do cute very well, so ponytails can be a challenge, but this style I think lent itself well to a more fetishy style using a set from Voluptas Virtualis that I did not get around to blogging while the Fetish Fair was still on. I paired that with suspenders and stockings by alaskametro and added earrings and heels from the Plastik.

GA.EG Barbara

I have branched out into another brand of bento mesh heads with the Barbara head from GA.EG and of course that was a good excuse for making another video. I discuss the features of the head, take a look at how it responds to sliders and test a few skins on it. Also showcased in this video and the accompanying photo are a couple of new skins from Adam n Eve, a corset from Schadenfreude and Silentsparrow, hair from Wasabi Pills and a couple of new releases from the Plastik and alaskametro.

Viking Lady

I’ve been a little busy with shape making for new skins and a new bento mesh head the last days (there’ll be a video soon, I hope), so a few events have managed to get underway. One of them is Genre, which has the theme of Vikings for this round. They have also changed up the format a bit, with a new, permanent build and a price change. The event will no longer have item prices capped at L$100. Judging by this round, it may have been a good choice, as it has a very nice selection of items. Also featured in this post is a new jewellery set from the Plastik and a new skin from Adam n Eve.

One of my favourite pieces from the just released February Treasure Chest was the Sacrificial Rite set from Souzou Eien, so naturally I wanted to build a scene around it. Then I had this gorgeous cloak from Noble Creations and it seemed a shame to distract with other clothing, so I just added a few accessories. Besides, a red cloak and no clothing is best for performing sacrifices, everyone knows that.

Treasure Chest Unboxing February 2017

As with my previous post, this one was delayed due to our website issues. The actual unboxing video and the accompanying photo were posted yesterday, so this is mostly to add the credits for my initial outfit since I go over the various items from the Treasure Chest itself in the video.

Sweet and Tasty

With our website woes sorted out (upgrading never goes as planned) I can catch up on two posts that were supposed to be done yesterday but which turned into just Flickr posts for the time being. The first features new lingerie from alaskametro together with a very sweet gacha from the Plastik.

Enchanted Woods

Since I spent the weekend at a couple of dog show’s in Norway I was only able to visit Enchantment yesterday to peruse what Cinderella had inspired this round’s designers to create. It turned out to be quite a nice collection, capturing different facets of the fairy tale. There were, as one would expect, quite a few stunning ballgowns, but what also caught my eye was this shorter dress by the Muses. It seemed like the sort of thing one might wear when wandering about an enchanted wood…

Ghost Town

My favourite pictures to setup and shoot are those where some items are just begging to be shown together. This was definitely the case for the Ghost Town gacha from 22769 and the new cloaks from Paper Moon. A ghostly presence in a ruined, abandoned town, just perfect in my mind.

Deco(c)rate Unboxing February 2017

I like it when things in SL happen at midnight SL time. That’s 9 am for me and just around when I get up, which means I can lazily start my day with browsing an event or—on certain days of the month—opening up a subscription box. Today, it was a bit of both, as I managed to squeeze into Collabor88 just as it opened to snag one of the new Exile hairs and then the February Deco(c)rate arrived as well. That meant it was time to setup for an unboxing video, though that had to wait for some RL work to be done first. Once I did get around to the unboxing, I was pleased to find that the designers had created some very nice decor items for the “Timeless Romance” theme. The photos show only one of the 15th items in the crate, so to preview all of them you’ll need to check out the video towards the end of the post.

The Tavern Girl

Given the scarcity of gorgeous male historical/fantasy clothing in Second Life (unless you’re a grungy barbarian), I am always really thrilled when I come across something that I know Ran will want for his avatar. One brand that is sure to never disappoint in that regard is Junbug’s male side brand/sub brand, fittingly named Heathcliff. At the Fantasy Gacha Carnival, she has a gorgeous set of tunics and matching knee breeches which I promptly spent some money on and then passed over to Ran with orders for him to get dressed. As it happened, I had a new dress to blog, so we made it a little scene in a tavern.

Demon in the Woods

It is still a few days left until the Fantasy Gacha Carnival opens on the 7th, but here you can get a look at some of the pieces from the elaborate Daemonus gacha from the Plastik. I’ve paired it with a new two-part outfit from Senzafine while staying with the gorgeous Opal hair from Wasabi Pills that I wore in my last post.
