Who We Are

Oldfashioned is the collaborative effort of Freyja Nemeth and Ran Garrigus. We've been on Second Life since the summer 2007, and we spend our days in SL working for Adam n Eve, taking photos and shopping for new things to feature in our photos. Like a large portion of the female population of SL, Freyja enjoys virtual modelling, but since she does not like to make typical model shapes her solution has been to get Ran hooked on taking photos. This endeavour has been so successful that she found herself forced to upgrade his computer for him for his birthday.

What We Like

In terms of clothing, accessories (in particular jewellery, since Freyja hoards shiny things like a dragon) and hairstyles, our particular focus is historical and fantasy clothing, though we also feature a fair number of more contemporary items, especially lingerie and gowns. As both of us also enjoy making shapes for ourselves, we are always on the lookout for more skins to complete our looks with and subsequently we regularly feature skins on the blog.

Policies

Oldfashioned is as much about us just showcasing things and designers that we like as it is about us reviewing items. Given this, we do feature items created by Adam n Eve as well as other acquaintances of ours in SL, and the items shown are almost always a mix of promotional items given to us and items that we have purchased.

We are happy accept review copies (see "What We Like" for some ideas of what fits in on the blog), but if we have not featured your items before we would suggest sending us demos and/or pictures to begin with. While we will offer constructive criticism when it is warranted, we do want to avoid posts with predominantly negative comments. That said, if you prefer sending review copies unsolicited (we know it can be just as awkward for designers to ask bloggers as for bloggers to ask designers), we may offer comments in private if we decide against blogging an item (and if you don't hear anything from us, don't feel shy about asking us).

Items listed as "Reviews" or "Previews" on Oldfashioned are taken with neutral lighting settings and generally completely unedited save for background removal. Occasionally there may be minor edits to deal with prims sticking out of the wrong places, but nothing that alters the appearance of the featured items. If necessary (which is relatively common, given our non-standard avatar shapes), prims will have been edited for a better fit.
