London Punk

RFL Clothing Fair is over, and I still have lots of items I’m trying to feature from that time. Today’s items: a bit of punk fashion, thanks to SF Design, INDI, HoD, and more.

Dressing up in a punk-inspired fashion is always a fun challenge, and I really threw myself into it. The RFL Clothing Fair made it easy, because a number of designers really went to town with the punk look on the CF London sim. I’ve already highlighted the military jacket from SF Design in this regard, but an even more in-your-face look has to be Pete from INDI Designs. It’s a wonderful look, really selling the punk aesthetic for all it’s worth, from the short plaid pants with the classic anarchy patch, to the studded vest and the button-strewn, sleevless shirt. Jamie Holmer’s a fantastic designer for both men and women, and she does a bit of everything.

To add to the punk look, the piercings and necklace from Haus of Darcy were a fortuitous arrival, part of a blogger pack. Great stuff. The Mercenary necklace (which, I admit, I did not show to the very best advantage in one of the photos—clipped the cross) is particularly neat, as it has several ways to wear it. It’s really quite massive and is made specifically for male avatars because of this. It’s definitely eye-catching. The piercings are definitely not a typical thing, but once I thought about it (and tried a different set from iNflict that I’ve used in the past) I decided to give it a go. It certainly worked, especially when combined with Nomine’s handsome Noam skin with one of the more punk makeups, and Exile’s terrific Wild Thing hair.

The last item of note are these boots from chronokit, renowned in SL for their remarkable watch designs but lately turning their attention to furniture and now, for the first time, footwear. All I can say is ... wow. These are gorgeous, amazing boots. And another bit of good fortune, because they were released on the very day I decided to put together a punk look. Several colors are sold separately, or in a fat pack, but the laces and inner lining are scripted for various textures. The Layer Boots just happened to have a tartan sort of lining, a perfect match for the pants.

Have to say, I loved throwing together this “London Punk” look as part of the RFL’s clothing contest. It was a great event, with a lot of fabulous designers all pitching in to a great cause.  Hat’s off to the organizers and the designers!
