A New Touch

This week is turning out to be quite the feast for a skin addict like myself, and the timing couldn’t be better. Ran and I have recently revived our project for creating character portraits for our MUSH using SL avatars (the first ones are up here and here), and that means we’re suddenly finding that we definitely can never have enough skins. So, we’re both on a hunt, and yesterday I struck gold when Dutch Touch released SjORs.

Style Notes & Slurls

Skin: SjORs Cotton iLinerWIne by Dutch Touch
Hair: Aisha II Charcoal by Maitreya
Accessories: Iris Fringe by G Field

I have tried several of the recent skins from Dutch Touch, but while they’ve all looked very pretty, they haven’t felt right on any of my shapes. The mouths, in particular, have not been quite my kind of mouths. Which is fair enough, because I know my tastes there don’t exactly match the rest of SL. However, I was very thrilled to find that SjORs was just what one of my shapes needed, down to being almost pale enough in the palest tone (Cotton). I would have liked even paler, admittedly, but everything else was just right and its certainly a very pretty tone, so it didn’t take me long to make up my mind to get it.

Now, disregarding my personal quirks, what do I think about the skin as such?

The body is very nicely done, in particular the natural-looking breast shading (I am showing cleavage option 1, there’s also a pushed-up look included, which also looks very natural), and I appreciate that it doesn’t look fit for just very skinny shapes. Its soft, feminine and pleasant. The contrast is lower than what I normally go for, but I am quite a fan of softer, more hand-done looks too. The feet and hands are very nicely done, and while there are some smaller side-seams, they’re pretty minor and show up only on a close inspection.

The face is refined and elegant, quite a classic beauty, with nicely shaped and not too thin brows and a pretty mouth. Each makeup includes a version with and one without freckles, and you also get both black brows (used in photos) and a medium to dark brown brow. You also get the skin either with or without a hairbase, and I think it is a very nicely done hairbase with a distinc widow’s peak that I really like. In total a purchase includes 16 skins, and included are also a bun for wearing with the hairbase and a pair of lashes.

For L$ 1000 per makeup, or $ 3500 for a pack of six makeups, I would consider this a well-priced skin. Speaking of makeups, SjORs launches with a total of 12 makeups, and when I spoke to Iki she suggested that more are planned, that is why the latest two skins have a section of the store to themselves. That sounds great to me, and I am crossing my fingers for some more dark lips along the lines of the iLinerWIne shown here or the striking CleoPatrasSiS that was was my second favourite. For those who prefer lighter lips, it looked like there’s already several lovely options.

The jewelry is also a new release, the Iris Fringe set from G Field. Its colour-change in three sections, and offers a choice of three metals and seventeen stones. At just $ 400 for the whole set, that was something I couldn’t resist, and I love how the red stones go so well with the luscious lipcolour.
