Lucky Lucas

Yet again, I’ve been remiss in getting reviews out, and it’s not because I’ve stopped acquiring great stuff—it’s just not a lot of free time on my hand. However, here’s a quick review of PXL’s newest skin for men, Lucas.

PXL’s been making great skins for men for awhile, but they never really quite suited me and my particular requirements—I use a lot of shapes to represent various roleplay and fictional characters, so I tend to only buy skins that fit that. However, Harte Larsson’s Lucas skin—which he kindly gave me a review pack of—clicked as fitting a minor sort of character that I’ve had around in the background of my roleplay. The shape was adjusted to suit him, and I have to say, I’m quite pleased as the result. Before I go on, though, I should note that the shape was made for an older sort of guy, and my decisions regarding things like body fat, muscle tone, and so on were motivated to try and sell that.

As it is, the skin is quite handsome, and works particularly well as a skin for a more mature man—the lines under the eyes can be easily enhanced to add a few years (as I did), and with a bit of work a sense of gravitas and experience can really be developed. That’s not at all usual for skins in SL. Of course, Lucas has a fantastic torso—great, subtle definition there—with my only complaint by that the pectoral shading seems too dark and too uniform for my tastes. There’s good detail throughout the skin, with no area neglected. There’s an amazing amount of options to these skins, as well, which makes it an excellent deal. Not only are there head hair and body hair options, but there’s also an eyeliner option for those who’d like that. The skin comes in four different skin tones, as well.

There’s eight different facial hair options available with the skin, to boot. I’m sharing a selection of them here, running from clean shaved to stubbled and on through to bearded. As I mentioned earlier, I made this shape to convey a little age on the character, so the cheeks are a little hollowed out and the puffiness and eyebag sliders have been pulled to the right a bit. It really is a terrific skin for residents who want a masculine, handsome, and mature look.

At L$1800 per skin in one skintone (with a total of 8 skins in the package to cover the hair and eyeliner options), Lucas is an interesting entry into the male skin market. It’s a handsome skin, quite masculine, but also well-suited to anyone who’d like their avatar to look older than a typical fraternity jock which is where most SL skins aim themselves. Lucas can be found both at the PXL main store as well as at the Vanity Universe Skin Fair, along with Harte’s beautiful new female skin July, which Freyja has recently reviewed here at Oldfashioned.

1. Thanks so much for reviewing,…

Thanks so much for reviewing, as an ethiopian ethic minority in SL I love wearing a skin that resembles my own!
