I would describe myself as a pretty big fan of Fantasy. When it comes to reading for pleasure, it probably makes up at least 90% of the books I pick up. If it wasn’t for my interest in the genre, I probably would not have met Ran (we met on a Tolkien-based MUSH) and I probably would not be in Second Life (we joined to attend George R.R. Martin’s reading in 2007). So, of course I have a weakness for Fantasy-inspired creations within SL.
Such as the brand-new release from PXL, a skin inspired by the night-elves of World of Warcraft.
Skin: Luthien Wine by PXL
Eyes: Glow Black Medium by PXL
Hair: Samantha Night by Truth
Outfit: Pohjola by Tekeli-li
Now, WoW is not my particular poison, I am an old-school kind of girl who is still playing text-based role-playing games. But, everyone likes a beautiful and slightly sinister-looking elf, right?
Luthien, as the skin is named, comes in a single tone and a choice of five lip colours. This is the Wine, which barely won out over the Nude when it came down to selecting one. I may just have to bring that one home too, it is great for a more monochrome look. Each purchase includes two skins, with and without the facial tattoos seen in the left-most picture, and at only L$ 800 they are quite the steal. If you want more than one, you can also take advantage of Hart’s new vendor system to mix your own fatpack and get a 20% discount.
The skin is based on the previous release from PXL, the lovely Kim, but Luthien definitely takes on a character of her own, not the least thanks to her fabulous eyebrows. There is definitely room for more top-quality fantasy skins in SL, and I hope that Luthien garners enough interest that more will be forthcoming.
My eyes are also from PXL, from the Glow range of eyes that is soon to be released, whereas my hair is once again Truth’s Samantha (told you it would stay on for a while, I am crazy about it). The amazing outfit is, of course, from Tekeli-li. It is the Pohjola ensemble, featuring jewelery and full-prim, armoured “clothing”. Just what a fashionable night-elf would wear.
