I’ve found it diffcult to find time and the right headspace for regular reviewing for awhile, and the following review was a casualty of that: I had meant to write it more than a month ago, when the skin was a brand new release! But better late than never, as they say, and it’s definitely a skin for men that’s worth looking at. Adam n Eve delivers yet another handsome skin for men, each serving a different segment from those who want pale, freckled redheads to Asian to black. This time, it’s the Mediterranens getting some service with Jonathan.

The latest male skin from Adam n Eve, Jonathan takes the body sachi Vixen has tweaked all along the way as she’s progressed through her latest male skins and, I think, more or less perfects it—this is how Adonis might have looked. The pectorals and abdominals are perfect—in the close-up you can really get a sense of the texturing and the very athletic toning. Attention is paid to just about every major area of the body, including the often-neglected arms thanks to the bicep shading and some very well-executed hands (having recently taken a look at a few skins that are new to me, good hands are apparently hard to achieve). I’m also rather fond of the neck, and that’s not usually an area I pay a lot of attention to; I don’t know, something about the tendons just make it seem so very real.
Looking at this photo again, I’m also rather taken with the smoothness of the shading, and the fact that the handling of it isn’t pushed to the extremes that one finds with some skins out there. Skins with blown-out highlights or that greasy/waxy shine to them are such an eyesore in my book, and far too common on the grid; more restraint is a good thing.
(As a very small side-note, the underwear seen here is from Boycut, purveyor of daring underpants for lads everywhere. Alas, they’re closing down shop and have reduced all their products to L$10 until their closure date of September 18th. I’ve featured their work before, but I recommend stocking up on their cheeky, sexy underwear while it’s there to be had.)
Skin: Jonathan t1 through t4 (Clean Shave, Chin Beard, Goatee, Beard) by Adam n Eve
Eyes: Promise Pale Blue 8 by MADesigns
As usual with sachi’s skins, Jonathan comes in four tones. What’s notable, of course, is how large a leap there is between t2 and t3—sachi wanted to give residents the option of a deeply tanned skin, and I think she certainly succeeded with the latter tones. I tend to use the lighter tones myself (especially t2, a beatiful olive sort of shade that’s very Mediterranean) when wearing the skin, just as a personal preference, but I know t3 and t4 will win over some surfers and beachcombers. As with all of her recent skins, there’s optional head hair, and it’s quite well-textured making it seem very realistic; perfect for those who prefer to go without the extra prims (and ARC) of attached hair.
Now, the face and facial hair options ... I have to say, Jonathan grows on me the more I wear it. The face is so subtly shaded, so that as you study it gains more and more depth. The subtle sheen across the forehead, even more subtle highlighting of the cheekbones, is impressive to me. The lips are lovely, too—perhaps the second best pair of lips among Adam n Eve’s new skins (I’m inordinately fond of the lips on the Mohan skin). There are four facial hair options, and though I’ve had some “pornstache” jokes thrown my way, I have to say I think the Goatee (as it’s called) is killer and really suits the face. The beard is fantastic as well, as all of sachi’s beards have been; very good texturing.
L$1200 gets you a skin tone in a chosen facial hair, with both the head hair and bald options; a terrific deal! For all four facial hairs in a skin tone, the price is cut to just L$3000, as well. Jonathan’s absolutely worth a look, especially for those who in their First Life trend towards the Mediterranean look and wouldn’t mind something matching in their Second Life. As for the future of Adam n Eve’s male skins? A little bird’s whispered that sachi Vixen’s hoping to embark on new skins in the next couple of months, to follow her beautiful new female skins that you’ve seen blogged here and at a number of other fine blogging establishments.
