Time for another lovely Blowpop beauty. This time it is Carmen, the second-darkest skin of the four new lines released this week at Blowpop. As her name suggests, Carmen shows latina influences in both her skin tones and her facial features, but the range of tones and the versatile face certainly does not limit her to just that. Once again I am wearing one of Adam n Eve’s Hair Fair releases, the gorgeous Darci updo.
Like Maya, Carmen comes in four tones, where the lightest has just a hint of rosiness even though it is by no means pale and the darkest is a deep tan or a naturally brown skin. My personal preference is probably for the darker tones, perhaps especially C, but they all look quite natural and the makeups are equally appealing on all of them.
As far as I have been able to see, the body is about the same as that on Maya, though the shading and highlighting is adapted to Carmen’s own skin tones, and it plays over the body in a lovely way, soft but not too subtle. Hand-drawn feels like the wrong way to describe these skins, hand-painted is more like it, and the amount of texturing that goes into them really bring them to life for me.
One feature that I have started looking more and more at with skins is how well the texture seems to wrap around the whole shape while keeping roughly the same level of detail, as opposed to being quite detailed front and back but fairly soft at the sides, and I think the Blowpop skins do this very well.

Carmen’s face is totally different from Maya’s, so she is not at all just a lighter version of the same skin. This is fast becoming my favourite way for skins to be done, with each face having its own tone/range of tones that is suited to its particular features.
Like Maya, Carmen has lovely lips, but her nose is less broad and her brows are darker (more to my tastes). There is more playing around with the blush on the different makeups here, I think, or perhaps I could not quite make it out as well on Maya on my sadly somewhat dark monitor. My overall impression of Carmen is a slightly full, rounded face with a sultry quality, and the available makeups fit this impression, especially the darker-lipped varieties which I think look particularly great on her.
As with Maya, there are six makeups (each with two lip variations) available for Carmen, and pubic hair is available on a separate underwear layer. The price is L$ 900 for each makeup (with both variations included) or L$ 3600 for all six. There are, of course, demos available.
