Fair Hairs

Has anyone reading the feeds managed to miss that Hair Fair starts tomorrow? It will be crowded, laggy and generally crazy, no doubt, but also a lot of fun. And your lindens will disappear faster than snow in Sahara.

Even though it was Midsummer here in Sweden yesterday (its now a few hours into the 20th here), we did not spend all the day dancing around a large, flower-covered phallic symbol while singing about the little frogs. As sacrilegious as it may have been, Ran and I spent a fair amount of time going through the Hair Fair. My first purchases plus some more Adam n Eve hairs will be the focus of this post, and he’ll be covering some of his own finds in a separate post later on.

While on the subject of hair, we thought we’d make a point of noting what sort of hairs we have a particular interest in, should anyone be interested in getting us to review some of their hairs. For my own part that is flexi curls and elaborate updoes or other hairs with a bit of a period feel, and for Ran’s part it is longer male (or unisex) hairs and male hairs with a bit of a period feel.

Skin: Ava N2 Group Preview by Blowpop
Hairs: Bella Copper and November Brown Sugar by Analog Dog
Clothes: Lottie Soot by Silent Sparrow

Now, onto the goodies. First up, two of Analog Dog’s three Hair Fair styles, Bella and November.

Bella is a big, elaborate updo with lots of soft tendrils of hair framing the face and curling around the neck. Its dramatic, elegant and sexy. November features similar loose tendrils, but the main part of the hair is left falling down the back in a gorgeous wave. With November, you also have the option of wearing additional bangs which adds bulk to the top of the hair for a more dramatic and formal look.

After picking up a few of her releases some months back, I have become a big fan of the styles and textures produced by Queue Marlowe of Analog Dog, and these hairs do not disappoint. The curls around the face, in particular, are lovely. It also does not hurt one bit that Queue has added yet more colours to her already well-stocked colour packs, and I believe you now get 10 colours for L$ 350. The dark pack is my particular poison, with all those lovely reds, but I must admit to being tempted by some of the very light shades too.

While I had to wait patiently to get my greedy little hands on the Analog Dog hairs, it was the opposite with these beauties from Adam n Eve. I’ve had them for quite a while now, but of course they had to be kept out of the public eye until closer to Hair Fair. But now I can finally wear them out and about.

Cassandra is a sleek and oh-so-sexy style. The combination of flexi and sculpts makes this a straight and close-fitted hair that works from a lot of angles and actually photos very well. Its a cleverly done hair that shows off sachi’s lovely new textures so very well.

Ophelia is a hair that made me go “wow” when I first tried it on. Its such a lovely, romantic style, with the draped bangs and the beautiful braid. It is undoubtedly perfect for many kinds of roleplay, but that is hardly the limit of its usefulness as it is a really pretty and flattering style.

There are three more new styles from Adam n Eve at the hair fair, and don’t forget that there are also 19 other new styles in the store itself, including one freebie.

Skin: Ava N2 Group Preview by Blowpop
Hairs:
Darci Black by Adam n Eve
Bella Copper by Analog Dog
Clothes: Lottie Soot by Silent Sparrow
Accessories: Lily Pond Tiara by Puarangi Designs

Now, what do you do after you have spent almost all your lindens on lovely hairs? Well, you could wear just the hairs on their own (they do look great worn with nothing but the gorgeous Ava skin from Blowpop, yet another group preview from the forthcoming big skin release), but if you follow my example and get yourself some lovely updoes, you will need some outfits and accessories to match.

For the outfit(s), you could check out Silent Sparrow, which currently is having a sale on almost everything in the store. Most things are 50% off, except for some newer releses such as the lovely Lottie ballgown. It was, I thought, the perfect match for my new crowning glories, especially worn with the shoulders bare though you can also wear it with a jacket and a matching capellete.

For accessories, why not a tiara? It can be the perfect finishing touch for a formal updo, such as the Darci hair (another Hair Fair offering from Adam n Eve) that I have already shown once or twice. This tiara is from Hibiscus Flossberg’s Puarangi Designs, and it is called the Lily Pond Tiara. The lily is scripted to change texture on touch, allowing for a variety of gemstone colours. It is the first tiara from the store, but among other things she also offers hair ornaments for many of Analog Dog’s styles. The version of the tiara that I have attaches to the nose, but when I brought this up Hibiscus said that she will include additional copies setup for other attachment points for those who don’t want to give up their lashes and prefer not to do the editing themselves.

If you need any more reasons to brave the lag at the Hair Fair when it opens to the public tomorrow, I am sure you will be seeing plenty of other hair reviews on the feed today and for the next two weeks. There really is something for everyone at the fair, so do take a deep breath and dive in for a bit.
