A New Genesis

Ryker Beck, maker of skins and pretty shiny things (and lovely eyes, too), has been a busy bee lately. Today she is releasing two new skin lines as well as changing her brand name from Genesis to Exodi. She is also introducing a bonus card system, where you earn points for purchases from the store that can then be applied towards further purchases, as well as a kind of store card designed specifically to allow customers to put together their own skin fatpacks.

I’ll be taking a closer look at the two skins, Eden Gen2 and Shiloh, and together with the skins I will be showcasing some of my favourite purchases from Miriel Enfield’s lovely store which sadly will be closing soon.

Skins: Eden Gen2 Sugar, Nutmeg, Clove and Pepper Fae by Exodi
Eyes: Onyx by Miriel
Lashes: Glamour by Miriel
Hair: Maiden Raven by Miriel
Accessories: Moon and Tide Copper & Black by Miriel
Poses: LAP

First, meet Eden Gen 2. She is an updated version of Ryker’s first skin, which I blogged about when it was released. The changes from the first version are quite considerable. Eden now has a more contrasted body which is similar to that of Candace, Ryker’s second skin, but I think the overall distribution of the highlights as well as the intensity has been refined (though the strongest points of some highlights may still stand out a little much for some tastes). It is a fairly smooth skin, but not without some good detailing that brings it to life. The underside of the wrists, for example, have the tendons nicely shaded in, the lower back has some great detailing (including back dimples) and as with Candace there are a few moles here and there. The feet are, perhaps, a little too smooth, but as always, the less said about SL feet, the better. I am definitely happy with key features such as breasts, nipples and bottom.

Eden is offered in four skin tones: Sugar, Nutmeg, Clove and Pepper, seen here from lightest to darkest. It is quite a good range, I think, though those wanting a very pale skin might not think Sugar is quite enough for them. For my own part, I seem to be drawn to the darker tones for Ryker’s skins, which is why I will be showing the makeups on the Clove tone.

Skins: Eden Gen2 Clove Fae, Nouvelle, Pourpre and Rouge by Exodi
Eyes: Onyx by Miriel
Lashes: Glamour by Miriel
Hair: Maiden Raven by Miriel
Accessories: Moon and Tide Copper & Black by Miriel
Poses: LAP

The launch line of Eden Gen2 consists of eight makeups, and I am showing four of them here: Fae, Nouvelle, Pourpre and Rouge. I picked the Clove tone because I think the shape I am using for Eden (the same as can be seen in the review for the first version of Eden) comes out a little exotic.

Comparing the face with that of the first version,  the brows are quite different (I am, btw, showing the darker of two brow options included), the nose shading seems softer (and suited to a wider range of noses, I would guess) and the eye area appears more detailed. The face comes off a little rounder, it seems, but overall it retains much of the same feel as the first version. The lips are rather…succulent, with more gloss than the original line, but I like these too. If I have any little nits to pick regarding the face it is that the shadow beneath the lower lip seems a little strong.

Other than the skin (and the shape), everything else worn is from Miriel. The hair is no longer available, alas, but the lovely eyes, the lashes and the gorgeous jewellery can still be picked up for a little while longer, until the store closes.

Skins: Shiloh Cream, Honey, Caramel, Coffee and Cocoa Barely There by Exodi
Eyes: Silver Screen by Miriel
Lashes: Glamour by Miriel
Hair: Eleanora Raven by Miriel
Accessories: Fleur Antique Gold & Jet by Miriel

Next up we have Shiloh, who shares a body with Eden Gen2 but features a very different face. Now, I am showing her on a different shape as well, but I do think the skin itself looks a bit more refined and sophisticated, and she seems to suit more delicate features quite well.

Since I have already looked closer at the body when discussing Eden Gen2, I’ll just add that I think it works fine both on somewhat curvier and more slender shapes. There is some detailing at the ribs, but not too much, and while the stomach features some muscle tone it also looks softly rounded.

Shiloh comes in five skin tones: Cream, Honey, Caramel, Coffee, Cocoa.

Skins: Shiloh Coffee Barely There, Coconut, Flower Girl and Water Lily by Exodi
Eyes: Silver Screen by Miriel
Lashes: Glamour by Miriel
Hair: Eleanora Raven by Miriel
Accessories: Fleur Antique Gold & Jet by Miriel
Poses: LAP

Like Eden Gen2, Shiloh is launching with eight makeups in total, and I am showing four:  Barely There, Coconut, Flower Girl and Water Lily. And once again, I have gone for a darker tone (Coffee, the second darkest of the five) for displaying the makeups on. Here, too, I think the result is quite exotic, and the colours of the Flower Girl makeup remind me a little of the Bollywood makeups that Ryker put out for Candace.

Shiloh’s lips are rather full and pouty, but I found that they work quite well on a smaller lip too. The shape of them is quite pretty, and I think the shading underneat works better here than on Eden Gen2. The nose shading is versatile, the eye is again nicely detailed and the brows are nicely full in the darker option seen here. The lighter version is, perhaps, a little sparse. Overall, it is a very striking face.

My eyes, lashes, hair and jewellery are once again by Miriel.

I would suggest heading over to Exodi’s new build and slipping into some demos. Remember that if you take a fancy to more than one skin line, the fatpack cards will allow you to mix together your own fatpack from all of the skins in the store. And if you come out of the store with some money left, do pay Miriel’s a visit. There are, admittedly, great eyes and great jewellery at Exodi too, but you really need to check out Miriel’s offerings before its too late.
