With the Jewelry Exposition running this week, it seems only fitting to continue the theme of the previous post and showcase more glittering goodies, as well as a lovely bit of new lingerie. Lingerie and jewellery is after all a hard-to-beat combination. This time the jewellery comes from ~flirt~. Their booth at the Expo had caught my eye, so when I was offered the opportunity to review two of their recent releases I was happy to say yes even though their style is classical and modern rather than history- or fantasy-inspired as the jewellery I wear in SL so often is. The lingerie that I decided to pair the jewellery with is one of two new releases from Ornamental Life, and I think a red corset also qualifies as pretty classical.
First, a look at the lingerie (you’ll get a close-up of the jewellery in the next picture). Remembering Chloe is a classically elegant corset set, with panties, suspenders and stockings. Each of the pieces is included on multiple layers, allowing for the set to be worn in different ways. Five colours, including this gorgeous red (called Resurgam—the item and colour names at Ornamental Life are quite unusual and evocative), are available.
I really like the simplistic elegance of this set, and brocade/embroideries on a satiny surface are a sure way to win me over. The set also gets two thumbs up from Ran, who most definitely has strong opinions about my lingerie purchases.
With the lingerie I am wearing one of my favourite pale skins, the Stella di Roccia in Ghost from PixelSpa, and the simple bun hair is a freebie from mela’s. The shoes are the gorgeous Babii pumps in scarlet from Adam n Eve and the jewellery, of course, is one of the sets from ~flirt~ that I will be looking more closely at.
The Tiffany series of jewellery was inspired by the works of real life jewellers Tiffany & Co. of London. It is a very classic and very elegant series. The primwork is executed with precision and care, and the texturing is very well done, giving the pieces a natural sparkle. The pieces seen in the picture are the drop earrings, the bracelet and the two-piece double-strand necklace, all in platinum and ruby. The double-strand necklace is done in two separate pieces, as it exceeds the number of prims that can be linked together, but for those concerned about ARC (Avatar Rendering Cost) it is important to note that because transparent textures are used very sparsely the ARC for the necklace remains very low.
The earrings and the bracelet fit me without needing any adjustments, though the necklace was a little more fiddly as the two pieces had to be moved (and I almost always have to move necklaces) in such a way that they still fit together correctly. It was nothing that a minute or two on a pose stand couldn’t sort out, however. If you need to do more than move the pieces, a resize script is included in those pieces that may need resizing. In the case of jewellery, I think this is a great solution, as moving individual prims is not something one does with jewellery.
The Fragile series is quite a contrast to the classic elegance of the Tiffany series. It too is elegant, absolutely, but it is also very modern, designed to look like it is crafted from sterling silver and glass. The glass, in particular, is a very innovative look that I don’t think I have seen before on SL, and I also think the end result is quite striking. There is, I think, something architectural about it.
The pieces worn in the left picture are the earrings, the bangles and the Predictable necklace. In the right picture the split glass bangles replace the regular bangles. My favourite piece is probably the necklace, it is so eye-catching and I love the way it will dominate a neckline without becoming overpowering thanks to the delicacy of the design and the transparency of the glass pieces.
The poses used are again from LAP, primarily from the Eye Candy set, which really is fabulous for showing off jewellery.
I am a little swamped under work & class work at the moment, but I hope to soon have a new setup sorted out for how to list worn items and give store locations. I expect I’ll be tweaking some older posts to bring them in line with the new method once I have it all decided on, because I am all obsessive about such things.
