First, a look at the silk I selected, the Kadin silk in Red and Silver. When I buy silks (which isn’t all that often), I like to look for things that look more like they belong in a harem (or at least the fantasy image of a harem) than in Gor. I don’t roleplay in SL (I still keep my roleplay all text-based), but I do like to indulge in quite a bit of costumey dressing up, and these sort of silks are much more to my tastes. There’s a bit more to them, so they actually look like clothing rather than fluttery pieces of fabric.

The Kadin set comes in six colours, each with a choice of either silver or gold trim. Each set comes with quite a few options for how it can be worn, including seven different skirt options as well as a set of harem pants.

A lovely detail of the Kadin that the ads in the store didn’t reveal and which I didn’t notice until I tried it on is the gorgeous detailing on the back of the silk jacket. It really highlights the excellent texturing on this outfit, and I may just have to go back and snag another colour or two of the Kadin before the sale is over (it started a few hours ago, and I believe it was said to be a 36 hour sale). At L$375 (that’s 50% off the regular price) the Kadin set is great value for money.

Finally, the other little thing I just had to run off and buy. Namely the Red Onyx makeup for the Pixel Deep skin. If you are not familiar with Pixel Deep makeups, they are basically sold as add-on textures that you drop into your existing Pixel Deep skin. A while back, a set of six makeups were released, though none of them really grabbed me. As with the makeups included when you buy a Pixel Deep skin, most were relatively subtle.

Now, I like subtle makeups when it comes to the eyes, but I really like a bit of colour on the lips, as well as a little definition. My only issue with the otherwise gorgeous Pixel Deep skin has always been that the lips are a little too soft to work well with my avatar’s mouth settings.

Enter Red Onyx, aka perfection. There’s just enough black on the eyes to make them pop out a bit and to make it easier to fit prim lashes, the lips are a lovely shade of red and they appear to be a little more sharply defined than on the previous makeups, giving a perfect outline even on my relatively small mouth. I am absolutely thrilled with this makeup and I will undoubtedly have to buy it for my second skintone as well. In fact, it may be what ends up persuading me to pick up a few more Pixel Deep skintones, as I know it will look great on the Light and Very Light skins too.
