An Introduction

We have been keeping blogs on a number of subjects for quite some time, so when we found ourselves hooked on Second Life, it seemed natural to add a blog for that too. Given that we have developed a liking for pretty things such as skins, clothing, etc as well as for in-world photography, a sort of fashion blog was what we decided to go for, though we also expect to occasionally comment on Second Life in general.

So, what can you expect from this blog?

Well, the pair of us have a liking for period and/or fantasy clothing and accessories, areas that a lot of fashion blogs unsurprisingly pass over. We won’t be sticking strictly to that type of clothing, as there are too many other pretty things around, but the content will likely be fairly heavily slanted that way. Hence, Oldfashioned. For now, anyway, as I am notoriously indecisive about names.

In terms of our approach to blogging about Second Life, its best described as us posting about pretty things we have found rather than as us reviewing these items. We do try to offer some useful commentary about what we like about a certain item rather than simply saying that we like it, and we don’t shy away from noting details that we may not like so much. However, if we post about something it is because we like it, and that usually means it doesn’t have anything we would see as major flaws. We will pick the occasional nit, but we’re more interested in sharing things we like than reviewing anything that comes our way. We’re also likely to mix older and newer items quite shamelessly as well as mix items we’ve bought with various freebies. This includes items we’ve received while working at Adam n Eve, and we do not see a reason not to blog these as well; we work there because we like the products, and as already noted, we blog what we like, as fans rather than journalists.

In addition to the specifically featured items in any picture, we will be using lashes (yes, Ran wears them too) from Sin Skins more often than not and poses from primarily Reel Expression or Long Awkward Pose. Occasionally, some home-made poses will be used as well, as Ran has started to dabble in this, and we will also be using our own eyes and, quite often, our own hair textures. The shapes we will be using are always our own (if anyone happens to be curious about their origins, they’re all based on the descriptions we had previously written for our MUSH roleplaying characters) and we have in general strived for as much realism in terms of proportions as the avatar mesh allows and for more RL-like heights and body-types. This does mean that some items shown will have been edited to fit us better.
