Rather different from the things I usually dive into, but when this outfit (from elymode) and this hair (from Dernier Cri) showed up on the same day, they really seemed to want to be put together.
When it comes to prim hair, my taste is sometimes a bit particular, and up until recently it has not been easily satisfied in SL. You see, I don’t care for bangs. Last time I wore them in RL was ... a very long time ago and it was followed by a frustrated period of growing them out. But in SL bangs are found on the majority of hairs, in part because it has been very difficult to create a neat hairline using prims. However, now that we have tattoo layers that can be worn on the head (even multiple tattoo layers in 2.1, though I am not touching that one with a ten-foot pole), no-bang hairs can be combined with hairbases and produce very nice results. Such as with the latest three hairs from Amacci of which I will be featuring my favourite today.
I am also showing one of the latest gowns from Wunderlich’s, a versatile dress that can be both modern and more period depending on how it is worn.
I have been blogging fairly infrequently lately, in part because I have been busy with other things than shopping in SL (like…bunnies) and work in RL, in part because I have started to feel rather bored by the process and the results. So, I have decided to start testing some new approaches. I’ll definitely be messing with the picture format, and perhaps also with the writing and the credits. I hope to redesign the website this summer and after that facelift I am thinking of emptying out the blog and starting fresh with whatever approach I like best.
But, enough with such ramblings, just expect things to be in a fluid state for a while. For now, on with a look at an ethereal white creation by Silent Sparrow, some lovely new jewelry from Dark Mouse and one of the latest Exile hairs. I am also featuring poses from Glitterari, picked up at the awesome sale going on there right now.
Warm weather and World Cup madness have put me in mind of showing off some examples of swimwear I have in inventory, along with a brand new hair from the terrific creators over at Shag!
If roleplay with a Medieval or High Fantasy flavour is your thing in SL, there’s no shortage of clothing. But what if you’ve watched one too many episodes of Rome or Spartacus instead? Then you might want to stop by Fantasia, where you will find a few recent releases drawing their inspiration from Ancient Rome.
I’ve also been hair shopping again, at Truth and Calico Creations. Poor bunnies, I think I may have used some of the money set aside for their food.
As a general rule, purple and I tend not to mix. But… sometimes you come across something that’s just the right shade, and it looks gorgeous, and you can’t help yourself. Such is the case with this offering from Silent Sparrow, one of my very favorite clothing stores in SL because of the talent and imagination of the mastermind behind the store, hyacinth Tiramisu. And so, too, are the brilliant new boots from Lassitude & Ennui, Severian.
For me, SL is a lot about dressing up in things I can’t generally wear in RL. But sometimes a bit of the modern world slips into my inventory, like this new outfit from Sacha’s Designs, Romana. I am also catching up with some new and some new-ish releases from Amacci.
I am quite completely in love with one of the new releases from Analog Dog, Dive. Its so fabulously sexy that I just want to stay naked and take pictures in it all the time. In fact, I have been doing all my bunny farming in the nude the last two days!
Ran and I have had a bit of a blogging burnout and a lot of RL to deal with, but now we have a few things lined up again. I’ll be starting off, with a look at three very nice acquisitions from the past few weeks; a gown from Evie’s Closet, a hair from Truth and the latest skin from Dutch Touch.
I’ve followed the creation of Naergilien Wunderlich‘s Earth Dress on Plurk over the last weeks, so when given the chance to showcase it, of course I said yes. And fortunately, just as I was setting up to take the photos, Truth released a new hair that matched it perfectly. I like when things come together nicely.
As Ran alluded to in his post, we have been distracted by bunnies these last days. As well as RL, admittedly, but we’ll just blame the bunnies. ;)
I am not done with showing off new pose-acquaintances from the Pose Fair, though, and I’ve also got some brand-new hairs from Truth and some naughty little mini dresses from elymode.
More poses from the Pose Fair, this time from pda, more hair from Truth and some oh so sexy lingerie from Zaara and Nomine. That’s what I call a good match.
SL’s Clothing Fair started this past weekend, and there’s a huge array of designers out there doing their part to help SL’s fashion-savvy residents do their part to contribute to a worthy cause. Among them? swaffette Firefly of SF Designs, who has a gorgeous jacket Freyja and I just had to check out.
Corsets are undoubtedly a weakness of mine in SL. Lately there’s been a few attempts at producing a corset that gets closer to simulating the very cinched-in waist of a tight RL corset by using sculpted prims together with invisiprims. The latest such attempt comes from Silent Sparrow, where hyasynth Tiramisu of late has been adding some interesting prim pieces (and jewelry, even) to her repertoire.
For this look at her prim corset, I’ve paired it with another weakness of mine and another new release; a lovely long and flowing hair with beautiful flexi curls and no bangs from Jolie Femme.
It seems to be the season for new hair textures, as both Tiny Bird and Exile have launched whole new texture lines for their hairs. I am really liking the overall look and the colours from both designers, and in both cases I feel they’re softer and richer. Exile, in particular, has really improved the reds, plus made some colour packs that are very excellent value for money.
